Getting started with Webinars: Zoom
Our tutors host all the webinars via Zoom. It is a video conferencing service, very similar to Skype, but more dynamic with a stable connection and better functionality.
We recommend that you test this program in advance so that you are fully prepared for the start of the webinar:
- Download and install the app on your device.
- Open the app on your device and select Sign In.
- Log in any convenient way (using a Google account is the easiest way). A browser window will open and prompt you to go to the Zoom app as a sign that you are logged in, make sure that your name and photo are attached to the app.
- Close the app.
- Three to five minutes before the start, the tutor will post a link to the webinar in the #teamwork channel. Follow this link.
Some tips
- Many people mistakenly log in to the app first, and then try to enter the link. This won't work. First, you need to follow the link, and then allow the app to open.
- If you click on the link from your computer, a browser window will pop up first, and you will be asked to open the Zoom app, please select this option. When the app opens, it will ask which audio output you want to use. Select Join With Computer Audio, everything should work out.
- If you click on the link from your smartphone, the app will open itself and offer you to select the audio source. Select A call using audio over the Internet.
What is important to check before the meeting
- Zoom is installed on your device
- Everything is OK with the Internet
- The room is quiet
- The microphone and the camera are working
- Sounds can be heard from speakers or headphones
The webinar will be especially useful if you had time to study the project task. Normally, webinar lasts 1-1.5 hours with one break, the link to the second part of it will be posted in the same channel (_teamwork).The link to the webinar record will be posted in the #teamwork channel. All webinar records will be stored and made available to you. Should you have any problem with your internet connection, you can log in to the conference from both devices to see the screen on your computer, and communicate with voice and video via your mobile device. Let us know if you have any questions.
